for starters, she asked how to defrost meat.
okay, got that one out of the way, told her to leave the meat in the packaging from the supermarket and sit in the sink to defrost if she is going to use it that evening.
come back a couple of hours later, she’s taken the meat out of the packaging and has left it on a plate, uncovered on a warm day. her plan was to serve this to others.
i advised her that this is not safe food handling (keep in mind, SHE WORKS AT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT) and it needs to be covered. first she asked what on earth she could cover it with, and then repeatedly asked if i was sure it was unsafe to leave food out like this.
she bought frozen spring rolls and wanted to cook some up, we had this exchange:
her: how much is 5mm of oil?
me: …..well…it’s half a centimetre
her: so how much is that?
me: it’s…half a centimetre
her: so like this much (fingers 1cm apart)
me: no, that’s 1cm
her: so how much would it be, in a pan?
